Rev: Lion displaying the arms of the Protectorate, PAX QVAERITVR BELLO (peace achieved through war).

    The medal was struck in commemoration of the dismissal of the Barebones Parliament and the introduction of a new and first written constitution in the English speaking world. This granted executive power to Cromwell as Lord Protector.
