Edward VII, 1902-1910. A Maundy Set Of Coins, 1904. In A Tooled Leather Case.
A Maundy Set (Fourpence to Penny) was traditionally given to the people by the monarch at the time, this being Edward VII. The word Maundy and the origin of the Maundy Ceremony come from the words spoken by Jesus to his disciples, after washing their feet at the Last Supper, “a new commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another”.
The coins in this Maundy Set are original, and have good matching attractive toning and colour.
