George II, 1727-60. Shilling, 1750.

George II, 1727-60. Shilling, 1750.

  • German born King George II was the only son of George, Prince of Brunswick-Luneberg later King George I. After his detested father's death in 1727 George II took the throne and was crowned at Westminster Abbey.

King George II died on the 25th of October 1760, at the age of 76, whilst using the toilet at Kensington Palace.

This Shilling showing good lustre and has an attractive colour with strong details. The reverse has a few scuff marks on the edge beside the left shield; these are probably small adjustment marks to the planchet before striking.
