Henry VIII, 1509-47. Groat, mm. Sunburst, 1526-44. Laker Bust D.
Henry VIII, 1509-47. Groat, mm. Sunburst, 1526-44. Laker Bust D, 2nd Coinage.
The sunburst mint mark appears to have only been used in 1537 for a short time, it is noted (WJW Potter, British Numismatic Journal 1955), that the mint mark was likely used in conjunction with King Henry's long awaited child and heir Edward (later King Edward VI).
Some weakness in strike, a good example of a rarer and interesting more desirable mint mark.
