Henry VIII, 1509-47. Hammered Groat, Mint Mark Lis, 1544-7. Third Coinage, Laker bust B, Tower mint, mm. Lis, lombardic lettering.
Obv: Older bearded portrait of Henry VIII facing right right, HENRIC 8 DI GRA AGL FRA Z HIB REX. Rev: Royal arms over long cross fourchée, with saltires stops, annulets in the cross forks, POSUI DEVM ADIVTORE' MEV'.
A very attractive example with an good colour and strong details. The fully struck Holbein-like brooding portrait. Rare in this preserved state with natural golden cabinet tone. Note a few small die flaws in reverse, however not detracting from the piece.
