George III, 1760-1820. Sovereign, 1817. With Victorian Scroll Fob Mount.
 
1817 was the first year in which modern Sovereigns were issued as currency by Royal Proclamation on 1 July 1817, after the Guinea series ended in 1813. The Sovereign featured a new and iconic reverse design by renowned Italian engraver and medallist, Benedetto Pistrucci, which is still in use to this day.

An attractive clear example with nice detail throughout. The surface with no tone and previously wiped / cleaned, some light surface marks and signs of handling.
