William III, 1689-1701. Shilling, 1696. Norwich Mint.

  • Provincial Mints were opened in Norwich, Bristol, York, Chester, Edinburgh and Exeter during the Great Recoinage of silver denominations, which was an effort to withdraw all earlier hammered coins from circulation.

This Shilling minted in Norwich during the Great Recoinage is possibly a detector find, however, has a good light and dark contrasting tone which highlights detail.
