Cartier Paris. France. Louis XVI, 1774-92. 1/2 ECU, 1791, mm. A. Paris Mint. The Coin Finely Mounted In A White Gold Or Platinum Mount, With Jump Ring. The Mount Hallmarked To Loop And Jump Ring, However Faint. The Edge To The Mount Engraved “Cartier Paris” And The Serial Number “R3776”. Overall Diameter Excluding Loop, 35-36mm. Overall Weight 20g (Coin Weight c.14.7g).

 

In 1791, France transitioned from an absolute to a constitutional monarchy following the adoption of its first constitution on September 3, which aimed for a moderate liberal revolution. The French Constitution of 1791 was the first written constitution in France, created after the collapse of the absolute monarchy of the Ancien Régime. One of the basic precepts of the French Revolution was adopting constitutionality and establishing popular sovereignty

 

In overall very nice condition, the coin with some light surface wear. An attractive piece ready for wearing.
