Early 18th Century George I Period Memento Mori Yellow Gold Finger Ring. Engraved “SM ob 22 Feb 1724/5 oct’6 4 Month”. The Inscription Probably Indicating The Passing Of A Young Child. With Makers Mark. 6.08g. Internal Measurement 18mm. UK Size Guide P - P 1/2.

 

A moving example, probably a memorial on the passing of a 4 month old child, living between 1724-1725.

 

Provenance: Found South West Dorset, 2018. At the time of finding exempt from declaration as within the rule of a rolling 300 years.

 

A very wearable ring of a good diameter and weight, in overall nice condition, some wear and light surface marks as expected with age.
