Armistice or Remembrance Day is commemorated every year on the 11th November to mark the armistice signed between the Allies of World War I and Germany at Compiègne, France. The first Armistice celebration was held on the 11th of November 1919, a year following the end of the Great War of 1914-18. This rare piece was engraved at the time in 1919 to commemorate and celebrate the end of the grisly conflict, it could either be relating to the “S.S. Changsha” or also the city itself.
