Elizabeth II, 1952-2022. Crown, 1953. Coronation Issue.
The 1953 ‘Coronation Crown’ was struck by The Royal Mint to commemorate the coronation of Her Majesty The Queen. The first commemorative crown to be issued during the reign of Queen Elizabeth.
Designed by sculptor Gilbert Ledward, the crown features the Queen riding her horse Wilson. The edge reads ‘Faith and Truth I will Bear Unto You' which is taken from the Coronation Oath. The reverse displays a royal crown in the centre of an emblematic cross formed of a rose (England), thistle (Scotland), leek (Wales) and shamrock (Ireland).
The coin photographed is a sample image and not the specific coin that will be carefully chosen, the coin you will receive is similar in condition, uncirculated with mint lustre, all coins have trivial surface ‘bag’ marks.
