Ireland. Edward VI, 1547-1553. Brass Shilling ‘Bungal’, 1549. Contemporary Forgery. Rare.
 
During the reign of Queen Elizabeth I these base metal pieces circulated as Pennies in the province of Connaugh. The coins were known by the nickname 'Bungal'.
 
A brass tone, some old verdigris. An interesting study piece.
