Obv: Bust of Louis Philippe and is inscribed "LOUIS PHILIPPE I ROI DES FRANÇAIS" (Louis Philippe I King of the French). Rev: "ÉLU PAR LE VOEU DES FRANÇAIS LE 7 AOUT 1830" (Elected by the will of the French on August 7, 1830), surrounded by an oak wreath.
 
This medal marks the beginning of the July Monarchy, when Louis Philippe became King of the French following the July Revolution of 1830, which led to the abdication of Charles X.
