Obv: Large mitre, toothed outer border surrounding. Rev. Six lines, SHERBORN / FARTHING / FOR. THE / POOR / 1669.
The religious imagery of the mitre on the obverse of this Token perhaps harks back to when Sherborne was an important bishopric from the 8th Century, commencing with the first Bishop St Aldhelm until the last Bishop Herman (died 1078 AD) who was chaplain to Edward the Confessor.
A darker brown tone, some surface roughness.
